COURTNEY McCROCKLIN of Wimberley, and former Centex player from 1999-2004 was named to the UIL All-Century Volleyball First Team. The UIL All-Century Teams were announced in Austin on November 17th. On behalf of the entire Coaching Staff, the Board of Centex, and all our current and past players, we would like to congratulate Courtney for receiving this great honor.
Courtney’s 2003 Centex 17’s team won the Bronze medal at JO’s in Salt Lake City and were coached by Canyon High School’s Heather Sanders.
Courtney played on the 2001, 2002 and 2003 3A State Championship team from Wimberley High School. In the 2003 State Tournament Courtney had 24 kills, 36 digs, 12 aces and six blocks in two matches against Carthage and Monahans. She had a game high 10 aces in the Championship match with Monahans and swung the momentum of the match by serving thirteen straight unanswered points in Game 2.
Courtney and her Wimberley teammates won 154 matches and lost only 10 in a 4-year span at Wimberley. Their team was recognized by LoneStarVolleyball.com as Team of the Year in 2002 and 2003 for all Classes, 1A – 5A, in the State of Texas. Courtney was named All State four times and All Tournament at the State Championships in 2002 and 2003. Her team was ranked sixth in the nation her senior year.
Courtney went on to play volleyball at Texas A&M, where she played for two years before three stress fractures in her vertebrae sidelined her after her team lost to Tennessee in the NCAA’s at Norte Dame her sophomore year.
In celebrating her election to the UIL All-Century Volleyball Team, John McCrocklin, Courtney’s father stated: “Lee Grisham and Doug Milner established a standard for volleyball excellence known and respected throughout the state for high schools and Phyllis Fowler from New Braunfels and Heather Sanders from Canyon set a high bar for club volleyball at CENTEX.”
Courtney received her BBA at Texas A&M in 2008 and did an internship in Washington, D.C. this past summer and will graduate with her MS in Marketing from Texas A&M next month. She is contemplating doing her PhD in Sports Management.
CONGRATULATIONS COURTNEY!
