Centex Volleyball Club Tryouts

Tryouts are conducted for the purpose of selecting teams for the CenTex Volleyball Club. All team members will be posted an hour after each tryout session. Those accepting will be registered with USA Volleyball as members of CenTex Volleyball Club for the season. Once you accept membership into any volleyball organization, you are committed with USA volleyball to that organization and cannot change clubs during the season.

Informational Meeting

Monday, September 20, 2004 @ 07:00 PM in the large gym at New Braunfels Middle School – 659 South Guenther, New Braunfels, TX. 78130. All prospective participants are urged to attend.

Tryout Date

Tryouts for all teams will be held on Sunday, October 3rd 2004 at the practice gyms in Strahan Coliseum @ Texas State. Check carefully the following schedule for the time of your tryout. We greatly appreciate your arrival on time. Please note, the tryouts are closed sessions.

What to Bring to Tryouts

Before any player may participate in the tryout process, they must submit the following fee and forms, which must be completely filled out (both sides) and signed by player and parent or guardian:

  • Tryout fee of $35. (non refundable)
  • Athlete’s Resume
  • Parental Agreement and Permission Form
  • USAV Individual Membership and Release of Liability Form
  • USAV Player Medical History and Release Form
  • Copy of Athlete’s Birth Certificate (does not have to be notarized)
  • Copy of the athlete’s most recent report card
  • Scorekeeper Application

What to Wear to Tryouts

All participants should wear shorts, T-shirt, knee pads and athletic shoes.

Team Announcements and Initial Fees

All team members will be posted an hour after each tryout session. The player and a parent need to be present to accept and tender a non-refundable deposit ($250 for 12’s and 13’s/$500 for 14’s – 18s). The deposit will be applied to the player’s club fees and the remainder of the fee schedule will be posted on the website at a later date. Immediately after teams are posted, selected team members will be sized for uniforms and photographed. In addition, at least one team parent “liaison” will be selected for each team.

The fee includes uniforms, coaching, membership fees, 10 tournaments, gym usage and most everything else associated with participation.

14’s – 18’s will all attempt to qualify in either the Tour of Texas or Texas Championship Series.

Note: 14’s – 18’s are all travel teams. The 17’s and 18’s will go to Las Vegas. The 14’s – 18’s will all attend one of the out of state tournaments. With the exception of food and spending money, the fee includes all costs for participating in the Las Vega and out of state tournaments. In addition and with the exception of the 12’s and 13’s, the fee also covers the cost of hotels at all tournament sites more than 100 miles from New Braunfels. The 12’s and 13’s only tournament farther away than Austin will be the Regional Tournament in Houston and these younger participants are expected to stay with their parents.

Cost of the National Junior Olympic tournament in Salt Lake City will be the sole responsibility of those teams qualifying.

Mandatory Orientation Meeting

All players and at least one parent MUST attend a team meeting which is TBD. Each coach will familiarize players with their practice schedule, and a request for a team parent will be made. Players will be sized for uniforms and the remainder of initial fees paid. Further player or parent questions will be answered.

  • The second scheduled payment must be turned in at the next meeting.
  • You must also bring dates of events which may conflict with your daughter’s practice/playing schedule.
  • We recommend you print out the CenTex Policy Manual and bring it with you to the Mandatory Meetings
